Kailin Yong: Violin, Percussion, Accordion, Vocals
Teacher, composer and innovator of 'Chinesegrass', Kailin Yong, a native of Singapore, is an avid crossover violinist playing a colorful palette of musical styles, notably with Boulder Acoustic Society. Before moving to the United States in 1999, he won first prize in the Singapore National Music Competition, toured the world with the Asian Youth Orchestra, and studied at the Vienna Academy of Music. At Mark O'Connor's Strings Conference, 2004, Kailin was named the recipient of the Daniel Pearl memorial violin, an award established in the journalist's name to promote understanding, friendship and harmony among people through the power of music.

João Junqueira: Guitar, Percussion, Vocals
Born and raised in Brazil, João's unique approach to music comes from a lifetime in Brazil and years of Jazz and World Music studies at Ohio State and California Institute of the Arts. Improvisation is the foundation of his original pieces, weaving a texture of guitar, voice, and percussive sounds influenced by Brazilian, Jazz, and World Music. By interpreting music within emotional and spiritual settings, João shares his personal belief that music is the most powerful channel for transcendence of any existent boundaries between beings, spirits and  cultures. Since the conclusion of his Jazz Guitar MFA at Cal Arts in '96, João has worked intensively as a performer, composer, arranger, and lecturer of Brazilian music.

Francisco Marques: Guitar, Cavaquinho, Percussion, Vocals
Born in São Paulo, Brasil on Oct. 12, 1978, he began formal music studies at Colby College in Waterville, Maine on classical guitar and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2000. He studied extensively with several instructors including Mitchell Long. In 2003 he attended the University of Colorado, Boulder School of Music. During the summer of 2004 he studied guitar and cavaquinho with private instructors at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), in Salvador, Bahia. Francisco currently teaches and performs in a variety of styles on guitar (6 and 7 string), cavaquinho, bass and percussion.

Dexter Payne: Clarinet, Percussion, Vocals
Twice a finalist in the Downbeat Readers Poll, Dexter has appeared on NBC Today Show and Prairie Home Companion. He has performed in 11 countries in the Americas, recorded in Brazil with Paulinho Tapajós and Beth Carvalho as well as Antonio Mello and Thiago de Mello. He performed with Rene Marie, Mac Rebbenack, Sharon Isbin, Elio Revé, Cachaito, Noites Illustradas, Judy Roderick, Dave VanRonk, Big Sky Mudflaps, BarBQ Bob, Johnny Long and more. His newest recording with Thiago de Mello, Another Feeling, features vocalist Ithamara Koorax and four great pianists including Helio Alvez (Obrigado Brasil). Dexter recently toured in Brazil, performing in Olinda, Pernambuco and Rio de Janeiro.
